Timothy Park is a man who knows himself and who knows nature. He’s a park ranger – that’s right – Park Ranger Park, and he loves his job and his simple life. But, lately life has become a lot more complicated. His high maintenance girl-friend has just left him but that’s not all. Several more women have mysteriously vanished from the very forest that he is sworn to patrol. Worse yet, his ex-girlfriend is one of the missing and the FBI has now been called in on the case. Their prime suspect? Park Ranger Park, of course. But Park handles the FBI and goes about his job as best he can. Then, another girl disappears and the bloody, shredded corpse of her male friend is all that’s left. Park trails the girl as best he can and finds himself in a portal where the side of a mountain once was. As the portal closes, Park is trapped inside and is thrust right into another world. This world if filled with strange creatures and magic as well as rules of conduct that he stumbles up against at every turn. Nevertheless, Park is determined to save the girl and he deals with wizards wielding compost monsters and cursed crocodile couples and vicious red wood gnomes bent on his destruction, mystical seers, and a man-pig that he calls friend. Not to mention he encounters Royalty along the way and finds one of the missing girls in the kingdom of Edendale. As he persuades the Princess Edwa to help him in his quest to find the other missing girls and return to his world, he realizes he has found a very attractive equal who admires his sense of honor and duty and challenges him to see her as both a ruler and a woman. Park Ranger Park is so full of life of all kinds that it simply can’t be put down until the very last page is reached. This story is filled with vivid scenery, characters of varied background (and species!), and wonderful dialogue that transports the reader into the mind and emotions of Park as he deals with his surroundings using duty, honor and humor. The characters and worlds are so real that it is easy to imagine it’s not a ‘fantasy’ novel at all – just reality on another plain. If ever a story deserved a sequel, this one is it!Product details

This book was an action packed page turner! I mean that – it was hard to put down.The chapter breaks really captured story segments well, and lent to the book to being a page turner. I liked the character development of the key figures, and some of the subordinate characters as well, plus very nice romantic tension. There were a number of times when I laughed out loud, and I almost never do that. And I loved the ending! For the last ¼ of the book I was intensely curious as to how it would end... and I’m happy to say that I was not able to predict it at all! It was a nice surprise!"
I just loved this book!
Mr. Kiesche typically writes stories that don't neatly fit into just one genre. This is a mix of scifi, mystery, romance, adventure, and comedy all rolled up into one rollicking ride of a book. The dialogue is, at times, 'laugh out loud' funny. The narrative provides a crystalline picture of the workings of Park's thoughts and emotions and helps to build his character in your mind's eye. ( I always have pictures of characters in my head when I step into a story).
Hoping for a sequel.

Women have been going hiking in a certain unnamed national forest…and vanishing. One these is Park Ranger Park’s ex-girlfriend, which means that when the FBI shows up to investigate the mystery, Ranger Park is top on their list of suspects. When another girl disappears – along with Park himself – and the only clue is the viciously shredded corpse of that girl’s companion, the FBI is certain he is the culprit and pull out all the stops to track him down.
But Park has more pressing problems. He has been transported into another world where magic reigns, and he has gotten on the wrong side of a wizard that will stop at nothing to destroy him. But nothing will stop Park from fulfilling his goal to find the missing women and bring them back – not golems, trolls, deadly shape-shifters, mischievous pixies, let alone the human denizens of this strange new world.
Author Tom Kiesche has crafted a fast-paced fantasy adventure with a likeable and even admirable hero, caught in a world that is vividly brought to life. His unique writing style draws the reader in by the throat and doesn’t let go of their attention until the final page.
I really enjoyed Park Ranger Park – the many laugh-out-loud moments are character-driven and don’t detract from the mystery and suspense of the story itself. There’s also plenty of moments that had me in tears – that’s the mark of a good writer!
Park Ranger Park needs a sequel, I hope Mr. Kiesche has one in the works!
"Park Ranger Park" is one of the most original books I've read recently. It's not exactly sci-fi or fantasy or comedy or romance, but a mixture of all four, plus a bit of crime drama. Our hero starts investigating the mysterious disappearances of several women in a national forest, but before long he's not only being chased by the FBI, but actually transported to a magical parallel world! In that world his biggest problem is not the FBI but a powerful wizard with a grudge. But he is determined to find the missing women, no matter what magical pitfalls await him.
I really enjoyed Tom Kiesche's writing - it's descriptive, fast-paced, and very funny at times. His characters are believable and you're likely to find yourself rooting for them. Not to mention all the plot twists, especially the ending, which will keep you on the edge of your seat! It's like a thrilling, action-packed, magical roller coaster. I hope Kiesche is planning on writing a sequel because I would love to revisit this world and these characters. I'd recommend "Park Ranger Park" for anyone who enjoys well written novels, no matter the genre (since, as I said, it's hard to categorize).
